Dad’s Chocolate Masala Tea
Dad’s Chocolate masala tea is a delicious hot drink. It’s sweet and spicy to taste. Masala tea can be all time favorites at any occasion and any season. Enjoy the tea with some home made pakora’s or biscuits.
Ingredients
- Loose tea leaves: 4 teaspoons
- Green cardamom pods: 2
- Cinnamon stick: 4 cms
- Cloves: 4
- Ginger: 1 teaspoon powdered or chopped.
- Black peppercorn: 8 – 10
- Jaggery powder or Brown sugar: 4 teaspoons
- Grated chocolate or chocolate powder: 2 teaspoons or as desired
- Water: 4 cups ( 1 cup = 250 ml)
- Milk: as required
Cooking Method
- Take water in a saucepan. Add tea leaves, cardamom pods, cinnamon sticks, cloves, ginger, peppercorns. Bring the water to boil.
- Once it starts to boil, reduce the heat to low. Let it simmer for 10 – 15 minutes.
- Remove from the heat and filter the tea into another pan using a tea strainer to remove all the solids. Discard the solids.
- Bring back the liquid to boil again. Once it starts boiling, add brown sugar, chocolate powder and milk. Remove from the heat. Stir the tea to dissolve sugar and chocolate.
- Masala tea is now ready to drink. Enjoy with biscuits or pakoras.
